December Mississippi O&G Board Preliminary Docket
The December Preliminary Docket was released this morning.
Twenty-seven (27) TMS units previously applied for have been carried over to this month. I mentioned a few basics about these carried over units in a previous post you may view here:
There weren’t many new applications for December.
However, Township 1 North, Range 5 East will be completely permitted with a couple of new unit applications. Add an adjacent unit to these two and another adjacent to and north of the Lyons 35H and you have the total of 4 Encana unit applications for December.
However, Encana also applied for permits on 4 additional wells in an existing unit.
Encana Prescott 32-5H is 1,315.58 acres located in Section 5 of Township 1 North, Range 5 East and Section 32 of Township 2 North, Range 5 East. This is due north of the Anderson 17H unit.
Encana Prescott 29-20H is 1304.54 acres located in Sections 29 and 20 of Township 2 North, Range 5 East and is due north of the Prescott 32-5H unit.
Encana Vaughan 30H is 2,253.94 acres located in Section 6 of Township 1 North, Range 5 East and Sections 19, 30, and 31 of Township 2 North, Range 5 East. I have objected to these extra-large units in the past, but with Encana’s record of drilling 2 wells per large unit and their ability to drill the longer laterals to take advantage of the entire length of the units, I can’t fuss too much on this one. Furthermore, only a portion of Section 6 is included in this unit, as the southern portion of the unit is included in the Anderson 18H unit.
Encana Betz 9H is a 1,949 acre unit located due north of the Lyons 35H in Sections 6, 9, and 21 of Township 2 North, Range 2 East.
Encana is also applying for 4 additional wells on the Bergold 29H unit, previously approved, as the Bergold 29H-3, -4, -5, and -6.
Sanchez has applied for a permit to drill the Macedonia No. 4H Well in the previously approved Macedonia unit. Word is Sanchez is moving to the Macedonia soon and it would appear that Sanchez plans to drill 2 wells in the same direction, the 2H and the 4H, rather than to drill 2 wells in opposite directions. I would assume a part of the purpose here is to test well spacing.
There were a few applications for previously permitted units for what appeared to be renewals of expiring permits.
The docket is almost down to a manageable size with a mere 14 pages. Assuming many of these 27 old unit applications can be resolved, we may see a docket in the single digits in the coming months.
Stay Tuned!
